Seen&Heard QuickStart
Here are a few helpful tips
for those new to FlashMeeting.
If you want a more detailed explanation or help see the main Help page.
To try the free FlashMeeting Demo click here.
Remember
FlashMeeting has been designed to be easy to use:
|
 |
|
It runs in a normal
web page so if you have a modern Web browser with the Macromedia
Flash 7 or greater plug in installed you can use FlashMeeting.
If you have a properly installed web cam and microphone you will be able
to communicate with friends and colleagues anywhere in the world. |
Login
Screens:
|
 |
|
Depending
on how you come to the FlashMeeting you
may have to type in the room name and entry password, however
these may be already filled-in and you will automatically be
shown the next screen.
Here you simply type in the name that you want to appear over your screen
image and click the enter button.
You will also see either how long you have to wait for the meeting to start,
or how long to the meeting's end if it has already begun. |
Changing
between 'Images' & 'Names' views:
|

|
|
Click
on a 'tab' button at the top right of the interface to change
between 'Images' view and 'Names' view. 'Images' displays 'snapshots'
of the people in the meeting, 'Names' just shows their names
(useful if you are on a low bandwidth connection or using a
'slow' computer). You can scroll through the list using the
arrow buttons. |
The
'Settings' button:
|
 |
|
Click the settings
button at the bottom left, to access the settings box. You
can switch between 'Low' and 'High' quality video depending
on your computer and connection speed. You can also access
the Macromedia Flash player settings from here. A small 'H'
or 'L' indicates your current quality setting. |
The
'Broadcast' button:
|

|
|
If you click on the
Broadcast button, and no one is already 'broadcasting' you
will broadcast your audio and video to the meeting until you
click the button again to stop. The button turns green when
you are broadcasting.
However if someone is broadcasting, you go into the 'queue' and will have
to wait your turn to speak. A hand appears on the button with your queue
position on it. If you click the button again you will leave the queue.
The first person in the queue automatically starts
broadcasting when the current speaker stops. |
The
audio meter:
|
 |
|
The bars on this meter,
situated to the right of the main broadcast window, indicate
the level (volume) of your microphone output. Ideally it should
be green/yellow, occasionally hitting red. If you see no bars,
or one bar, then your microphone is not working or set far
too low. |
The
'Interrupt' button:
|
 |
|
If you feel that you
must interrupt someone else click the interrupt button. This
immediately replaces their broadcast with yours. |
Send
URL:
|
 |
|
Enter a URL in
the input field at the bottom of the interface. While you
are broadcasting click the 'Send URL' button to open the
web page on everyone's machine.
|
The
end of the meeting:
|
 |
|
When the meeting's
time limit has been reached the meeting closes and the end
screen appears. |
